Round one of the playoffs was exciting and had five game seven series out of eight series. The Hawks gave the Pacers a run for their money and took them to game seven, but came up short in the last game. The Nets upsetted the Raptors in game seven and went on to play the Miami Heat in the Semi Conference Finals. The Heat had swept Michael Jordan’s Bobcats in four games. Then when the Heat played the Nets they demolished them in five games and moved on to the Eastern Conference. They played the Indiana Pacers and defeated them 4-2 in the best of seven series. So the Heat are going back to the NBA Finals for the fourth straight year and are the first team to do that in 30 years.
This year the Oklahoma City Thunder Forward Kevin Durant received the NBA Most Valuable Player Award with career high numbers in assist and rebounds. He has always been a great score, not to long ago he was the youngest player in NBA history to lead the NBA in points per game in a season. The Most Improved Award went to Phoenix Suns Guard Goran Dragic who improved tremendously and almost put the team into the playoffs. Chicago Bulls Center Joakim Noah was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year. The Bulls overall were a great defensive team, so it was great that the won that award. Los Angeles Clippers Guard Jamal Crawford who is such an exciting player to watch with his streetball handles and style to play. He was awarded the NBA Sixth Man of the Year which means he was the best player off the bench. Then with the Rookie of the Year award went to Michael Carter-Williams for Philadelphia Sixers. Other awards were given out such as the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award to Cleveland Cavaliers Forward Luol Deng, the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year to Miami Heat Forward Shane Battier, NBA Sportsmanship Award went to Memphis Grizzlies Mike Conley, Coach of the Year Award went to San Antonio Spurs Gregg Popovich, and the Executive of the Year went to San Antonio Spurs R.C. Buford.
Then back in the Western Conference the San Antonio Spurs are going back to the NBA Finals for the straight and are looking for revenge against the defending champs. The San Antiono had to beat the Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Spurs pretty much have the same team as last year and are eager to win the Franchise another NBA Championship.
The NBA Finals start June 5th at 9pm ET on ABC and is going to be a good serious since both teams have history from last years Finals. The NbA Finals is not as big as the Super Bowl because they have more than one game and is not as popular as football in the United States. Last year in game 6 the Spurs seemed like they had the game won and would have received another NBA title. They were even bringing out the trophy and even the confetti, but Ray Allen hit probably the best shot in NBA Finals history. The Heat won the that game and went on to defeat the Spurs in game 7 Everyone stay tuned and watch the NBA Finals on ABC for the next couple of days.
