Cynthia Barrera, 11th grader at Mission Bay High School, is the Junior Varsity softball captain and is very dedicated to sports. As well as being athletic, Barrera is a nice warm-hearted girl who loves the outdoors, but what’s under the surface? Here are some things you may not have known about Cynthia Barrera.
Cynthia has a really big family; she lives in a house with nine people. She’s very interested in engineering. She’s always wanted to go to Brazil. She can’t say the word leopard. Cynthia also plays soccer along with softball. Cynthia recently got stitches in her lip for getting hit by someone’s head in a soccer game, and she also has had five broken bones.
While interviewing Cynthia, she spoke to the Beachcomber, talking about what made her want to join softball, “It was a simple decision of mine, but I haven’t regretted it,” Cynthia said. Cynthia really enjoys her spot as captain too, she has built strong bonds with every girl on her team, which is the benefit of sports. It is about building strong bonds with some of your teammates. You can also learn things about some of your teammates that you didn’t know before, just like with Cynthia. She says to remember to get involved by being active.
