Technology’s Effect on Bucs’ Lives

Throughout the years, technology has changed and made a major impact on our lives tremendously. Schools have changed, homes have changed, and jobs have changed all because of things that have to do with the internet and technology. For example, at schools there used to be textbooks and pencils and papers, then it advanced to every student in the classroom having their own personal I-21 laptop; some schools even have personal iPads.

In classrooms there used to be chalkboards, chalk, and erasers for teachers to display their work, then it advanced to whiteboards with erasers and dry-erase markers, now teachers have Promethean boards in their classrooms, which are touch screen boards that allow teachers to use them as a whiteboards, computers, and document cameras.

When asked how technology affects the world later in life, 11th grade student, Lexus Harris said “I feel like it will eventually cause a lot of people to lose their jobs, because the way technology is being made, its like people won’t even be needed.” Lexus also said “I feel like technology will ruin a lot of friendships and relationships because it seems as if people are starting to lack verbal communication because mostly everything done now is through the internet.” When asked how technology has already affected the world, 12th grade student, Javante’ Limbrick, said, “I think technology has changed the world; people don’t have as much privacy.” Lexus Harris said, “It made us blind to the fact that there are other ways to communicate, other than through technology.”

People have lost jobs, because they are being replaced by robots. If robots are replacing people, it will eventually cause people do lose their homes and everything they have because they have nowhere to work. There are both good and bad sides to technology, it has allowed things to be easier, like applying for something.

Instead of going all the way to an office to apply, technology and the internet have made it easier where you can just apply online. Also, people are starting to do things like “online dating” which is something very dangerous, and has been the reason for deaths and crimes. Technology has impacted our lives in both good ways and bad, who knows what new invention will be created next.
