XBOX One vs. PS4

The new generation of gaming has finally approached us. With the ps4 coming out the 15th the well anticipated Xbox One finally dropped on the 22nd. The debate on which console is better has become more intense than just about any gaming system or even electronic gadget, ever. With the Xbox One being about 100 hundred dollars more than the ps4, the cheap people already have their minds made up that it’s not right for them, but to real gamers they can see 100 dollars wouldn’t just be the deciding factor. It’s the specs that count, like the 500GB hard drive, or the new built-in Kinect system that comes with voice activation, which is incredible memory, or if you would prefer Microsoft’s operating system which is way more advanced than the Playstation Network or how XBOX One dropped 23 games compared to the 16 games ps4 dropped.

Talking to George Rew, a senior here at Mission Bay High School, he says “It’s more than just the price tag of the console, it’s quality of it, and to me Xbox outranks the Ps4 in just about every quality besides free online gaming.”

Asking him what could be improved on the Xbox One, he said, “I like it the way it is, but if there was something, it would probably be the controller having a detachable screen on it similar to the Wii U.” Asking him what his favorite thing about Xbox that separates it from Ps4, George simply replied “It’s where the real gamers play.”

Another student Tre Mask had a totally different perspective on this. In his opinion the Ps4 is the superior gaming system. I asked Tre why he thought that the Ps4 is the best. He said, “Free gaming, need I say more? Why would I pay 60 dollars a year to play the same games when I can play them on the Play station Network for free. Plus Xbox controllers are huge, Ps4s are more comfortable and it comes with Dual Shock.”

It’s definitely a tough decision with two great consoles dropping around the same time in a neck and neck battle to be called superior. With the Xbox coming out with better exclusive Xbox-only games like Halo and having a built in Kinect system. Or would you rather have the Ps4 with a sleeker controller and a free online Play station Network? With all of the controversy it really comes down to how you feel about everybody’s biased opinions on the Xbox PlayStation battle. Which side will you take?
