Anatomy of a Single Girl by Daria Snadowsky
Today we are going to do a review of this book called “Anatomy of a Single Girl,” by Daria Snadowsky. It’s about this eighteen-year-old young woman named Dominique Lilith Baylor, who not only is in college, but who is also trying to deal with a breakup. Now you would probably think it would be about something sexual, because of the cover/ picture on the book. But no. Daria Snadowsky wrote this book dedicated to teens who are mature and who are in a love crisis.
Dominique goes to college, and has a “guy” friend who is named Calvin Brandon who is interested in her, but for now, let’s not gets into detail about him yet. He’s not the important person right now. Since Dominique is going back home to see her family and her best friend, Amy Braffs, and working as an intern at a hospital for the summer, she will have the chance to clear her brain a bit before she thinks about having a boyfriend.
Like I said, Dominique, the main character, is trying to get used to the whole breakup thing with her boyfriend. But here is the thing; she is crushing on this guy named Guy Davies. Ha-ha get it, guy and Guy? No? Okay. Well anyways, she feels that Guy is the perfect guy for her, but she isn’t sure yet.
Guy is an intern at the hospital where Dominique works at. So she thinks that this relationship might work, she also thinks that Guy would help her get through her breakup and make her move on. She also thinks they both have a lot in common. Yet she still isn’t sure yet about being truly in love with him, because she’s scared that she might get her heart broken again. She only has until the end of summer break to make the decision of them being soul mates.
The message that Daria Snadowsky is trying to send all girls, and maybe boys that feel a bit interested in this book are, people don’t have to be good looking and dress nice to be able to date. What matters most is that they have something in common with you and have a great, nice personality. This basically wraps up as you shouldn’t judge by its cover. For example, lots of people don’t want to read this book because of how the cover the book looks perverted looking. Furthermore, Amy Braffs has a boyfriend where they have nothing in common at all whatsoever yet they’ve been in a relationship for a very long time. Weird right?
Since Daria wrote this book, she probably wrote it because she might be going through something exactly like Dominique or maybe her friend is, or maybe even she was influenced to write this book. For whatever reason, this book was dedicated to teens or maybe adults that have been through breakups or has a love crisis at the moment. I recommend this book to basically anyone who is able to read this book, and who is mature enough to read it. If you’re a teen or maybe younger, I suggest asking your parents/guardian first before reading/buying this book. The reason I’m saying this is because my friend of mine, Tyra Crossley, who was reading this book at home and her mother thought that it was inappropriate for her to read because of the cover, so she lost her privilege of reading this book. So please make sure you ask your parents just in case. I would also rate this book a four out of five star. (Five being awesome/good) The reason is that it’s very interesting and funny. It was so interesting that I couldn’t get my head out of this book at all, it was just so interesting! So if you feel interested in this book, please buy this book, and the first novel, “Anatomy of a Boyfriend.”
