Andres Cruz is a 16-year-old junior at Mission Bay High School. Andres just moved to San Diego from El Paso, Texas. He lived in the cotton fields of west Texas for 15 years before moving to California. He is interested in journalism because he likes to write and like to read the news. Andres’ life mostly revolves around baseball. He’s played for about 13 years and hopes to play beyond high school, although injuries had prevented him from playing in high school for one full season. As a freshman in Texas, days before opening day, he broke his leg and shattered both sides of his ankle in practice; he would have season-ending surgery. He struggled to recover from surgery and that has been the main reason why he’ s only played one full season in high school. He likes to spend time relaxing, watching TV, and playing video games. He also enjoys listening to music and playing the guitar in his free time when he’s not at school or working.
