Café by the Bay is a small café located at 3510 Ingraham St. between La Cima Dr. and La Mancha Dr. in Pacific Beach. It is open Monday through Sunday from 7 am to 5 pm. The place is a casual, quaint, open-air café, which is small but inviting. There is indoor and outdoor seating and this place is great for groups, and children. Café by the Bay is also wheelchair accessible, and dogs are allowed. They don’t deliver or take reservations but you can call ahead and order for take – out, their number is (858) 273-2233. They also accept credit cards and their prices are very reasonable. A customer said, “I get the large acai bowl. Its only seven dollars but what’s great about it is you get twice as much acai than the small size and its only two dollars more.”
Café by the Bay is great for breakfast and lunch. Their most popular item on the menu is probably their acai bowls. One customer said, “I love the acai bowls here! The mixture of acai and granola is perfect. If I could I would come here every day. ” They also have sandwiches and Paninis, as well as burritos and smoothies. Another customer said, “I love the California Turkey Sandwich. It’s the perfect size sandwich and made with fresh ingredients every time.” When I eat there I either get the large acai bowl or the ham Panini; both are always very good.
However, you can expect a 10 – 20 minute wait for your food, so don’t go if you’re in a hurry. But while waiting you can entertain yourself with magazines, shopping, watching TV, or browsing the internet with their free Wi-Fi. A frequent Café by the Bay customer said, “I have been eating here since they’ve opened and the wait has always been longer than usual. But it doesn’t bother me very much because they always have something out to distract me and the employees here are very friendly.” However, another, not so frequent customer, was quite distressed while getting his food; “I don’t understand what could possibly take this long? I only ordered one sandwich. My four year old daughter could make something faster than they could!” So if you get impatient when hungry, this may not be the perfect place for you.
Overall I would rate Café by the Bay four stars. Their food is delicious and made from high quality ingredients. They have a wide variety of food on their menu, and their prices are very affordable. I enjoy eating there by myself or with the soccer team and I would encourage everyone to try it out.
