Vacation: A period of suspension of work, study, and other activity, is usually used for rest, recreation, or travel; recess or holiday. As you may know Christmas Vacation is on its way and many Mission Bay students are looking forward to the two-week break from school. Mission Bay students spend their Winter Break either chilling at home, hanging with grandparents, going to the snow, or leaving for the warm sun. They also have different activities that they do to spend time away from school including catching up with close friends, homework, movies, snowboarding, surfing, camping or being bums and staying home.
Here is how some Mission Bay students plan to spend their winter break:
Kierra Phipps leaves for New York this winter break to see her family in Brooklyn and spend Christmas with them. Phipps is happy to get away from sunny San Diego to enjoy the white snow on the East Coast. She’s very excited to go shopping at all of the high-end stores in Manhattan and walk around the bright, busy Times Square. Phipps says “Spending time with family by sharing stories and laughs always put her in a good mood.”
Alex Paclibar might go to Mexico City for one of the weeks on winter break. Paclibar likes visiting his family and hanging out with his girlfriend. His favorite thing about going to Mexico City is buying clothes at the strip malls, because its a lot cheaper to buy Armani ExChange in Mexico than in the United States. Paclibar can’t wait for break to be with his girlfriend and exchange gifts and go ice skating. He’s most looking forward to his birthday which is two days before Christmas and of course Christmas dinner. “Holidays with my family and girlfriend are always the best because they are the two most important kinds of people in my life,” Paclibar said.
Lizzy Diaz is going to Hollywood to interview for fashion and photography during winter break. Diaz is also going to Sinaloa, Mexico to visit her family for Christmas. As well, she’s going to the snow, to hang with her girlfriends and her sisters. Diaz is looking forward to shopping during all of the after Christmas sales and then ice skating at Horton Plaza. “This break is about to be one of the best, because I’ll be spending time with mi familia, mis amigas, and sit by the fireplace and drink hot chocolate,” Liz said.
