On Tuesday’s game against No. 4 ranked Lincoln Hornets, the Bucs were heavily out-rebounded by a much larger Lincoln Hornet team. Vince Petties-Wilson finished with 18 points and Jerald Albritton finished with a game-high 25 points, but the Bucs fell short by 14 points in a 78-64 loss to the Hornets. The Bucs looks to bounce back after a hard loss to the Hornets.

This Friday (Jan. 27th), Buccaneers will face the University City Centurions in a rematch of last year’s CIF championship game. “Though we already faced them this year and won by a lot, it’s more than important that we sweep them this year because they took what was ours last year,” James Cloud said. Jerald Albritton and Vince Petties-Wilson, senior guards, felt that the Bucs basketball team wasn’t getting enough respect this year.  “We deserve way more (respect) than what we are getting,” Albritton stated. “But nobody is just going to hand it to us, so we got to go and take it. Take what’s ours,” Petties-Wilson added.

With all five starters being seniors, the team must leave it all out on the floor and give it all they’ve got because there is no next year for these guys. “I want to leave here with a ring, I been working my tail off for four years and now it’s time for me to get one,” senior forward Cloud stated.

Dylan Holler, also a senior, thinks the team must “get more serious and work harder” to achieve some of their goals for this year.

The team really loves the motivation they receive from the crowd. “They’re always there to get loud and pump us up,” said Albritton,”they are like our 6th man. They play a huge role in our success.”  The men’s varsity team will be playing a home game against University City Centurions at 7:30 on January 27th and will be looking forward to seeing you at the game.
