Now that the holidays are getting closer, our families start talking about the holiday menus and begin to decide where we are going to get together. Coming from a Mexican background, we make all sorts of food and delicious desserts. Our most famous dessert is flan. “Flan is a must have in any event, especially around the holidays!” one of my aunts exclaimed.
One of my favorite desserts is a Mexican delicacy called flan. First, start by collecting the ingredients: one cup of cream cheese, three eggs, one cup of condensed milk, one half cup sugar, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Next, let the cream cheese reach room temperature, this way it becomes soft After the cream cheese is at room temperature, dump it in the blender with all the ingredients starting out with the eggs, condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Turn the blender on high speed and press the whip button, this way it becomes soft and creamy.
After placing everything in the blender, get a circular baking pan. This step requires caution. First, heat the circular pan on the stove top on medium-low heat; afterward, dump the sugar in the pan so the heat is able to caramelize the sugar. When the sugar is caramelized, spread it around the whole baking pan.
While all the above is done, preheat the oven to 350°F. Now that the sugar is caramelized, dump the flan mixture in the pan and place it inside the oven; then, wait approximately an hour and fifteen minutes. When the flan is ready, place it in the refrigerator for three hours to cool down. Stick it into the refrigerator, and once the flan is cold, it means it’s ready for you to enjoy.
